The Press and Information Office no longer issues translations, but it publishes the Register of Sworn Translators, where you can verify our entry under No. 094. You will see the terms sworn, certified or official translation. They mean the same thing.

Why accuracy is critical
In legal documents, a single word can affect the meaning and the legal consequences of a text. Rendering legal terminology correctly calls not only for linguistic precision but also for a substantive understanding of the two legal systems and of the specialist terminology in both languages.
When a sworn translation is required
Where a legal document is to be used before a court, a public authority or another official body, a sworn translation may be required, depending on the requirements of the receiving body.
If you are unsure of the requirements in your case, it is advisable to confirm the relevant instructions with the body to which the document will be submitted.
Apostille and legalisation
In some cases an Apostille or another form of legalisation of the document may be required before the sworn translation.
These requirements are set by the competent authority or the body where the document will be submitted, and they differ by country and by purpose of use.
Where your document carries an Apostille or another official legalisation, this is included in the sworn translation as well.

The delivery time depends on the length and complexity of the document. Once we have reviewed your document, we send you a quote and an estimated delivery time on the same working day.
