Sworn translations German ⇄ Greek
Official translations of certificates, legal documents and public documents between German and Greek, with legal force and the stamp of a registered sworn translator.
If the PIO or another authority referred you to a sworn translator, you are in the right place. The Press and Information Office no longer issues translations, but it publishes the Register of Sworn Translators, where you can verify our entry under No. 094. You will see the terms sworn, certified or official translation. They mean the same thing.
What a sworn translation is
A sworn translation is the valid and accurate translation of a document, bearing the official personal stamp of a registered sworn translator. It is governed by Law 45(I)/2019 and is the only kind of translation accepted for official use before authorities and courts.
Our service focuses exclusively on the German and Greek combination. That specialisation means deep knowledge of the legal terminology and of the requirements of the authorities in both countries.
When you need a sworn translation
A sworn translation is required when a document is to be submitted to a public service, a court or an authority, inside or outside Cyprus. Typical examples:
- Birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates
- Criminal record and family status certificates
- Degrees, transcripts and qualifications
- Contracts, powers of attorney and court judgments
- Corporate and tax documents
A requirement of the law: under Law 45(I)/2019, government services, courts and independent authorities of the Republic use the services of sworn translators exclusively for certified translations.

The process
You send a photograph or scan of the document and receive a quote with a delivery time the same day. The translation is carried out with care, stamped and accompanied by a statement of accuracy. You receive it in printed or electronic form, ready for submission to the relevant body.
